Flexibility

Over the years of being in the ministry, God has shown me that the need to be adaptable and flexible is essential to stay focused on what God’s will is for my life. The Bible is rich with examples about how God’s people had to be willing to think about what was important in their lives in different ways if they were going to survive in their worlds that wanted to simply crush them. The story of Joseph in Genesis is a great example of being flexible. He went from being his father’s favorite son, to being sold into slavery in Egypt, serving in Potipher’s house and being falsely imprisoned, to rising to be second in authority in Egypt. He adapted to his circumstances and was able to stay true to his trust in God. God rewarded that faithfulness as seen in his response to his brothers who came to Egypt to buy grain because of the famine in Canaan. This is what he said to his brothers… “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” (Genesis 50: 20-21 NKJ). We must learn to be flexible to hear God’s plan for our lives.
